Bailey Curtis

I am a felt maker, and I love bright, clear colours. My work now is often landscape inspired, and I’m using words and poetry in my work at the moment. I dye all my own wool, used for felt making.

I’m working on a sculptural piece at the moment for Dr Jenner’s House & Museum, Berkeley, Gloucestershire. It comprises a large tube made of chicken wire on which is mounted a fabric cover with large felt letters of names of various ancient herbs in the physic garden there. It will be on display in April throughout the summer, my work will be in the bothy inside the physic garden, part of the larger garden there.

I have been a member of South West Textiles Group for about 40 years, and it has been very fulfilling being a member of such a good group, who are supportive in the work that I do.
