My work is inspired by various subjects i.e. Ancient artefacts, crumbling surfaces, textures from the natural world. The effects of the elements, wear and tear on man made and the natural.
I use a variety of media and using my own photos to inform me. My recent visits to the Wharf ‘on the edge’ of the estuary prompted my current pieces, studying the discarded and abandoned boats.
Mark making on fabric and paper etc, distressing, fragmenting and layering then re- assembling are or great interest to me , as well as finding and highlighting the beauty in the imperfections as in the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi.
I joined to be with like minded people and to be part of an exhibiting group enjoying their company, knowledge and support.
