Sue Lucas
I create as sustainably as possible using foraged and recycled materials
in an attempt to minimise my impact on our planet . My work involves
using slow processes: observing, gathering materials, researching,
dyeing, processing pigments, experimenting, manipulating, stitching,
coiling, collaging. My 2D and 3D textile pieces are often inspired by
frequent walks in the southwest of England where I explore detail of the
unseen or overlooked aspects of nature, inviting viewers to slow down
and consider the intricate textures and patterns of the natural world. I’ve
recently joined the Southwest Textile Group to meet, share skills, and
exhibit with like-minded people.
